  SAVE WATER

Save Water
Save Chemicals
Save Money ... and importantly
Save the Environment
Membranes are utilised to remove impurities in processes, however to maintain the membranes' operation and through-put they must be cleaned regularly. This usually means the consumption of significant quantities of clean potable water and chemicals, which ultimately end up going to drain.
The unique Steri-flow SS membrane can easliy and repeatedly be cleaned with steam, thus reducing site water and chemical usage markedly while product quality is maximised.

Innovation in Sustainability Award - Steri-flow leads the world in micro-filtration

Steri-flow has once again been recognised for its innovative filtration systems and applications developed within industry.
On Tuesday Steri-flow was recognised at the Southern Adelaide Innovation in Sustainability Awards by winning the award for "Innovation in Product/Service", whilst also being a finalist for "Innovation in Process Improvement".
Steri-flow well meets the definition of innovation - "invention with real world applications" with the Steri-flow Cross-flow Microfilter based upon Steri-flow's patented sintered metallic tubular membrane which is being applied across industries and processes such as biodiesel and ethanol, fats and oils and numerous other significant applications to aid in reducing wastes and improving quality.

  Leading the way with Biodiesel

After extensive testing Steri-flow has supplied a fully operational Biodiesel Filter which has now been running and producing high quality biodiesel for over 6 months, with minimal intervention and no media removal or replacements required.
The Steri-flow unit ensures the biodiesel produced meets and exceeds the stringent specifications laid down by both independent standards associations around the world and by the "oil majors" who are using the biodiesel as a blend with mineral diesel.
The traditional filter solutions were developed for use on biodiesel produced from seed crops such as rape. Biodiesel produced from feedstocks such as palm oil and tallow add significant complexities and issues for the biodiesel producer to overcome. The Steri-flow Biodiesel Filter overcomes these problems and ensures, even after blending with mineral diesel, that specifications relating to Total Contaminants and Filter Blocking Tendency are easily and repeatedly achieved.

  Steri-Steam - the new Steri-flow steam filter

Everyone wants, but not everyone has - clean steam. Numerous Steri-flow customers while wanting to upgrade their filtration standards so increasing the value of their products, also have inherent problems with ensuring their plant utilities are capable of supporting their upgraded processes. Hence to meet their needs Steri-flow has developed a fully stainless steel steam filter, which at its heart is the legendary robust Steri-flow SS sintered filtration membrane.
If the quality of your steam is letting down your process, then consider installing the Steri-flow Steam Filter, Steri-Steam.

In-Situ Leaching - Be involved in new trials

The Australian government has just given the go ahead for a new In-Situ Leaching plant to recover uranium.
With the development and growing acceptance this realtively new mining technique and the growing demand for a range of minerals, Steri-flow is now moving to filtration and separation trials of process streams involved with In-Situ Leaching (ISL), also known as Solution Mining. To be involved with these trials and be part of truly innovative process development, please contact Steri-flow directly via sales@steri-flow.com

Oils and Fats - Maximise your returns

Steri-flow has been involved in running extensive site and laboratory filtration trials on a range of oils and fats. The results have been excellent. Steri-flow was presented with some of the "worst case" tallows which could not be processed through traditional bleaching methods and was able to produce a quality final product suitable for use across a range of applications, rather than those products being downgraded to low value uses.
The Steri-flow filtration system is built to meet the high standards required within the food processing industry while also being rugged and robust, thus minimising maintence requirements.
To minimise chemical and water usage, the Steri-flow filter is cleaned quickly and efficiently through steam purging which ensures that contamination is never a problem.

Steri-flow success - High value salt trials

Steri-flow has successfully performed a range of micro-filtration site trials on the process stream from a Vacuum Pan Salt Evaporator process. Using a similar membrane to that developed for the Alkali Industry, Steri-flow was able to provide superior quality filtrate and constant high level flux rates over several days of operations without running extensive cleaning cycles while also being able to concentrate the waste retentate to levels not previously achieved.

  Bio-fuels turn to Steri-flow Technology

Steri-flow has recently shipped two pilot plants to the home of ethanol, the mid-west USA. The filtration systems will be utilised within operating ethanol facilities in the development of applications to aid in process efficiency improvements and to reduce both the energy usage and green-house gas production.

Bio-diesel production will soon be aided by the application of a specially designed Steri-flow filter, after the recent placement of a significant order by an emerging Australian producer. The "nod" for this system to proceed occurred after extensive testing and repeatable high quality results achieved.

Steri-flow is also participating in a range of trials with the aim of achieving a more stable and consistent feed-stock stream for the production of bio-diesel. Steri-flow's capability and capacity to develop new and specific membranes for given applications ensures that Steri-flow's clients are at the leading edge of bio-fuels production, maximising efficiency and ensuring consistency.
